Moberly leads EKU team to victory in 2010 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open on Kentucky Lake.

Tyler Moberly and Kyle Raymer of Eastern Kentucky University Fishing team win at Kentucky Lake 2010 Collegiate Bass Fishing Open presented by Pepsi. The team had limits of 20 and 24 pounds. Moberly used Cumberland Pro Lures Jigs for the victory.

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – Last weekend, Mike Devere’s son Lucas won the BFL tournament held on the Barren River as a co-angler. Mike also fished that event, held on Father’s Day, as a boater. After receiving his check, Lucas told his dad it was his turn to go out and win a tournament. And six days later on Lake Guntersville, that’s exactly what the elder Devere did.

Mike was able to win the June 25, 2010 FLW Tour event held on Lake Guntersville after fishing two strong days with the Cumberland Pro Lures Foot Ball Head Jig. Mike used the Pumpkin 1/2 CPL FB jig.

This was Mikes first win and we are all very proud of his accomplishment here at Cumberland Pro Lures.

Bowling finishes 2nd at Guntersville with Pro Caster

Bill Bowling used the Cumberland Pro Lures Pro Caster Jig to snatch 23.07 lbs of Lake Guntersville Bass good enough for a 2nd place finish. Bill used a 3/8 PC in the Naked Craw Color. The June 5 BFL tournament also had some Tour Pros in it. Way to go Bill!

Tee Watkins finishes 2nd in the 2010 All American. Watkins’ primary pattern was swimming a 3/8-ounce black/blue Pro Cast jig made by Cumberland Pro Lures with a black/blue Berkley Critter Chunk on points along a six-mile stretch in the midlake area.

Tee is very fond of the Pro Caster if you remember he finished high enough to qualify by using the Pro Caster at the Lake Norman Regional.

Luxon uses Cumberland Pro Lures wire to wire for 2nd at American Fishing Series

Andrew Luxon captures 2nd in the May 15th American Fishing Series FLW tournament on Kentucky Lake. Andrew used the 3/8 oz Pro Caster jig in MO Craw color the first two days of the competition then switched to the 3/4 Pro Foot Ball jig on the final day when his pro moved out to fish main lake areas with heavy current.

Andrew stated that he had to keep a pair of pliers in his pocket due to the jig locking down on the fish so well. "I was worn out and my hand tourn up" after catching hundreds of fish during the tournament.

Tony Wilson uses HD for 8th in American Fishing Series

Tony Wilson of Barbourville KY finished 8th in the May 15th FLW American Fishing Series tournament on KY Lake. Tony reported catching all of his three day catch using the Cumberland Pro Lures black/blue HD jig. Tony stated that the jig would come through cover like no other and each fish was hooked perfect. The HD jig gets it done in heavy cover. Tony stated he could put the HD in the middle of the thickest bushes.

Ramie Colson Jr. enjoyed a top 10 finish at Kentucky Lake in the FLW American Fishing Series May 15 with a little help from Cumberland Pro Lures. Ramie reported weighing in 2 keepers each day of the tournament that were caught using the Cumberland Pro Lures Football Jig in a green pumpkin type of color.

Richard Cobb V and Tyler Moberly won the recent Battle of the Bluegrass Kentucky college championship. The event was held at Barren River Lake on April 25th where Richard and Tyler won the individual tournament and the overall tournament with the help of Kyle Raymer and John Smith their combined weight was a total of 26 lbs. Every keeper that Richard and Tyler caught was on a 3/8 Cumberland Pro Caster in Barren Craw color. This marks the fourth time in five years that EKU has won the Battle of the Bluegrass.

Chad Peercy and Dean Turner won the recent FOM tournament at Barren River Lake with a five bass limit that tipped the scales at 22.19. The team used the Cumberland Pro Lures 3/8 Pro Caster Jig in Barren Craw color. The Barren Craw skirt color was developed to closely imitate the colors of the crawfish often found in the area. The skirt has a green pumpkin base with natural orange on the top with a few strands of a clear with black barbed wire to represent the almost white belly of the craw. As you can see this color combined with the craw characteristics of the Pro Caster head really gets the job done.

Congratulations to the Eastern Kentucky University team of Jonas Ertel and Kyle Raymer for the second place finish in the 2010 College BASS East Super Regional Championship.

The team used the go anywhere HD "heavy duty" jig to be in position to take the title but came up just short when falling water left their bite a little high and dry.

Jonas credited the success to the confidence he has in the HD jig to go in and come out of any place he wants to put a bait. "That jig is amazing, you can flip it in the heaviest cover on the lake" and " The hook up is incredible".

BASS Federation: 2010 Southern Divisional

LAGRANGE, Ga. — Kentuckian Brandon Card has definitely been playing some hot hands the last couple of years at the BASS Federation Nation Southern Divisional with the use of Cumberland Pro Lures.

Competing in his first divisional last year, Card was the top angler on his state team and this year he earned top honors on his Kentucky team and also was crowned the tournament's overall champion with a three-day catch of 13 West Point Lake bass weighing 40 pounds, 6 ounces.
By winning the divisional and finishing as Kentucky's top angler, Card also qualified for his second-straight trip to the BASS Federation Nation Championship, the ultimate test of amateur bass fishing's best, to be held Oct. 25-29 on the Red River in Shreveport, La.

Brandon used the Pro Caster and the HD flippin jig on his way to the 2010 BASS Federation Southern Divisional title.

Tyler Moberly won the BFL event on Dale Hollow Lake March 20, 2010 with Cumberland Pro Lures round Shakey. Tyler stated that he was able with catch the highly pressured Dale Hollow bass with green pumpkin head and finesse worm combo. Tyler credited being able to land the light biting bass due to the design and hook combo of the Cumberland Pro Lures shakey head.

The team of Chad Peercy and Dean Turner won the March 27 2010 Green River Fishers of Men event with a total catch of 19.03. Chad reported the winning stringer being caught on the Pro Caster Jig 3/8oz.

But thats not all folks! The second place team of Jared Hembree and Mike Devere reported catching their 18.62 on the Pro Caster Jig as well.

Drew Sadler and Jerrod Seasor probed the depths of Dale Hollow to finish 2nd in the 2009 Billy Westmoreland Smallmouth only Tournament. The team deployed 3/4 oz Pro Football jigs in Cumberland Craw and Pumpkin to fool the big bronze backs. The team landed over 17 fish by 11 a.m.

Drew reported that the smallmouth would slam the CPL jig and then just lock up on it!

Day Wins the Mountain BFL Points and STREN top 10 with Cumberland Pro Lures

To say that Bill Day had a great 2009 would be an understatement. He starts the year off with a FOMNTT win pitching the 1/2 HD black/blue jig. Then he proceeds to go to Guntersville finish 3rd with 24.13 wins big fish with a 10.8! Kinda hard to top all that but he did. Bill won the points Championship in the Mountain Division of the BFL and finished 10th in the Stren Series Central Division.

Bill said that Cumberland Pro was instrumental to his successful year from Pitching or Casting a jig to slow rollin a long arm spinner bait he enjoyed success with the premium line up.

Jeff and John hauled in 15.10 lbs to join the 15.98 from Day-1 and capture the 2009 Midwest – Central Regional Championship with 31.08 lbs overall. The talented pair’s consistent performance throughout the two days of competition earned them championship plaques to commemorate their victory and a certificate for a fully rigged, $30,000.00, 2010 TR-18 Triton bass boat, powered by a 150hp Mercury Optimax, Motorguide trolling motor, and Lowrance electronics. John and Jeff concentrated their efforts within view of the Lake Guntersville dam. Mark Denney and Mark Morgan win the Back Waters Fall Open Tournament Saturday by catching keepers all day on a 3/8 Pro Caster Bass Jig in Naked Craw color and a Cumberland Pro Shakey head. The team reported catching 18 keepers during the day.

Denney also got a bonus fish for the table of a 20 pound striper caught in the jumps.

Lake Cumberland Striper Report

11/8/09 Striper trip with my son and father started fishing about 2:00 in the mouth of a creek on the upper end of the lake. Water temp 62, weather high blue bird skies with 0 wind. Began trolling with 4 Cumberland Pro Umbrella rigs dressed with 9 CPL striper spinnners each. All 1 oz 2rigs blue chart 2 rigs chart chart.

Began trolling the bank in 30 feet of water, not much shad or fish. After about 20 minutes marked a school of 6 fish ran over them and two rods went off with two non keepers put in the boat. Moved over a point that dropped off into the channel and began marking bait fish at 30 feet and below. Trolled the area for an additional 20 minutes and did not mark any good sized stripers, so we moved farther up the creek.

Mid to upper section of the creek revealed much more bait on the graph but all still below 30 feet. A little odd for this time of year when often fish are found busting surface. I continued to S curve troll the bank switching depths. 8 more non keepers come to the boat. As I was switching sides of the creek I increased the trolling speed up to 3.5 mph and moved over the channel noticed a lot of bait showing up. Suddenly the #1 rod went off and strained with the weight of the fish. As Kellen grabbed the rod and began to battle the fish, the #4 rod went off and gave Dad some action as well. Three fish on that pass with 2 for the cooler.

Well that's how they want it so that's how we decided to give it to them. Repeated trips zig zagging back and forth over the main channel breaks at higher speeds we ended the day with 5 in the box by 5:00. Ran into a guide buddy that was fishing live bait in the area. Reported a slow day with only 1 keeper in the box.

Moberly wins point championship with Cumberland Pro Lures

Brandon Moberly won the 2009 mountain division co angler title and misses an All American birth by ounces.

Here is what Brandon had to say:

"This year has by far been one of my best years of fishing so far. First off, before any tournaments even started, dad won that $100,000 as we all know and that just started the year off great, not only for the family but also for myself in that it enabled me to fish more tournaments this year, and we also bought the new boat which boosted my confidence dramatically in fishing because i didnt have to worry about anything breaking down on me. I could just focus on catching that next fish.

The first BFL at Laurel was a grinder in that I only landed one fish all day but it was a good 3lb fish. I caught that fish on a Lucky Craft Pointer and it kept me close to the top in points.

At Dale Hollow unfortunately we had engine problems so we stayed in around the Star Point area. I knew there were fish in the area so I picked up a 3/8oz BLK/BLUE Pro Caster with a Green Pumkin big salty chunk and caught fish all day including a 4lber. I only had 3 keepers but they weighed 8lbs and put me in 6th that tourney.

At Cumberland it was rainy all day but the fish were spawning, so i picked up a Cumberland Pro 3/8oz White Buzzbait and worked stumps and shallow flats all day and caught 5 that weighed 8.6lbs and put me in 12 for the day.

On Barren I started out early with a 1/2oz Cumberland Pro Barren Craw FB head jig with a Alabama Craw Paca casting to deeper stumps on a long point in the 15-22ft range and caught 3 good keeper LMs. We left there and ran up in the river so i picked up a 1/2 oz BLK/Blue Barbed HD Flippin jig with a flippin blue big salty and caught a keeper slot and another 15 1/2 incher so that gave me my limit for the day and I ended up with 11.15 lbs which put me in 8th.

At the Super Tournament, the first day I started out throwing a 1/2 oz Barren Craw Football Head tipped with a Strike King baby rage craw chunk. Within an hour, I landed my 3 keepers on it and lost another. We were fishing stumps and rocks on a channel break in the 15ft range. I made the cut and the second day I knew I had to at least catch a couple keepers so I picked up ole faithful -- 3/8oz Naked Craw Pro Caster tipped with the Baby Rage Craw and ended up catching 2 keepers for the day which got me 3rd place and also won the points for me which was my ultimate goal.

At Norman the first day I caught 2 really good keepers on a 3/8oz Naked Craw Pro Caster tipped with a green pumpkin chigger craw casting around the outsides of the docks and the stucture on the banks,not the docks like my boater was focusing on. The other 2 keepers were caught on a 4 inch Smoke Purple tube,just throwing it out in the current and letting it bounce along the bottom looking like a dieing baitfish and the fish would grab it,I ended up in 7th going into day 2 with those four fish.

The second day I only caught one keeper,I caught it on an 1/8 CP Pro Shaky Head with a Reaction Innovations 6 1/2inch Flirt Worm in Magic Craw Red color,I came in 14th with that fish and had a 2 day total of 9.10lbs missing the cut by 5 ounces.

I have to say I was very proud of myself this year in that I didnt finish any lower than 20th place all year in the BFLs and won the points by I think 37. Luke Devere and I also had a great year in the USA Bassins. We drew 2 checks through 5 of the regular season tournaments on Barren River and also qualified for the regional. We had 19lbs in one tournament throwing 3/4 and 1oz Long Arm Double Willow Cumberland Pro Spinnerbaits in White and White/Charteuse. We targeted shallower bluff walls with a break on them to catch those fish. The other one we flipped BLK/Blue and Blk/charteuse 1/2oz jigs in less of 5ft of water in the brush and had 15lbs.

Our big win came a week before the BFL Super Tournament when we won the USA Bassin Regional on Rough River which earned us $4,000. Every fish we caught came on BLK/Blue or BLK/Chartuese 3/8oz Pro Casters tipped with Green Pumkin Big saltys. We caught 3 keepers early close to the takoff area,then went to another spot were we thought we could maybe catch a slot or maybe another keeper.

We ended up catching a 3.12, 3.8 and another 15-inch keeper off that one spot which gave us our limit that weighed 11.86lbs. It was the only limit weighed in out of 98 boats, and this was my first time and Lukes 2nd time to ever fish Rough River.

The Eastern Kentucky University fishing team of Richard Cobb and Tyler Moberly finished 2nd at the National Guard FLW College Fishing central regional championship. The team was catching Kentucky Lake Bass on Cumberland Pro Lures Shakey heads. The lead the event after day two but struggled to catch keepers the final day. The posted the big limit on day two caught flippin shaky heads around shallow brush.

Mark Morgan in his first season as a boater in the BFL qualifies for the 2010 All American by qualifying at the Old Hickory Lake Chevy Trucks Wild Card.

Morgan stated he caught fish all day long the first day of competition by burning the Cumberland Pro 1/8 oz buzz bait in a black with silver blade. He stated that he used the tiny buzz due to the high fishing pressure that the lake was experiencing.

The second day of competition Morgan adjusted to the changing conditions due to the heavy rains by up sizing to a 3/8 black buzz bait with gold blade. "I reeled it as slow as I could" He stated that the water colored more and he felt the larger profile bait with gold blade helped the fish find it better. Morgan also used the Cumberland Pro 3/8 long arm tandem spinner bait in white/chartreuse barbed shad with silver blades to get key bites. He used a slow roll pause technique to trigger strikes. The fish would slam it when he paused and let the blades flutter.

Tee Watkins is heading to the 2010 All-American by qualifying at the North Carolina Lake Norman Regional. Tee fished the Cumberland Pro Lures 3/8 oz Pro Caster jig in the Oops color with a big salty green pumpkin chunk. Tee used the jig by casting and pitching around docks catching a mixed bag of large mouth and spots each day.

Tee stated that the design of the pro caster jig imitates a craw fish to perfection. He was able to cull several times each day and never lost a fish all week.

Forrest Wood Cup Co-Angler Champion wins with Cumberland Pro Lures

Brad Roberts of Nancy, Ky., won $50,000 back in August, but did you know that he out-fished Mike Iaconelli on his final day with a Cumberland Pro Lures round shaky head and 5-inch Senko? In fact as Roberts recalled with a smile, Iaconelli would fish a spot or eddy for 20 minutes and move forward and then Roberts would make one cast with his shaky head and one would jump all over it. Ike would turn to the camera and say, "Didn't I just fish that for 20 minutes?"

The first two days of the tournament Roberts fished a 1/4-ounce Barren Craw skirted Cumberland Pro Caster Jig. He was fishing around cover and catching quality fish and made the cut. He picked up the Cumberland Pro Shaky Head on day two fishing with Shinichi Fukae. He got bit almost immediately and after that the shaky head dominated his attack.

On the final day Roberts would pull the head and Senko along the bottom and would stop and shake it for several seconds every 5 feet or so. He felt like moving it around and shaking it in the current breaks gave the fish a chance to find it. The key was using a bulkier bait but Roberts would bite 3/4 to 1 inch off each Senko. He wanted a short fat profile that undulated in the current.

Because they were fishing in pretty heavy current the last two days he opted for the 3/16-ounce heads instead of his normal 1/8 ounce head. The little extra weight allowed him to maintain good contact with the lure in the breaks. He got bit nearly every cast to a good looking eddy while Ike struggled to catch even a single keeper. In fact, Roberts had his limit before Ike caught a keeper and was the only co-angler to limit on one of the toughest competition venue in the nation.

He said he fished the Pro Shaky Head and Senko on 8-pound P-Line because that line is a little thicker and gave the bait a more natural presentation in the current. He usually throws the green pumpkin jigheads and did on the Ohio River the last two days. He paired the heads with Green Pumpkin Candy Senkos.
